Matt Nagy is in his first season with the Chicago Bears after being named the 16th head coach in franchise history on January 8th, 2018.
Nagy, owns 10 seasons of NFL coaching experience, all under head coach Andy Reid with the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.
In 2017, Nagy completed his fifth season in Kansas City and his first as offensive coordinator. He was promoted to OC following the 2016 season after serving as co-offensive coordinator with Brad Childress. Prior to that, Nagy spent three seasons as the Chiefs quarterbacks coach.
Mark Helfrich is in his first season as offensive coordinator for the Bears after being hired by the club on January 12, 2018. He joins the Bears with 21 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, including four as a head coach at the University with Oregon.
Helfrich most recently served as the head coach at Oregon from 2013-16 where he compiled a 37-16 record during his four years, including a 24-12 mark in the Pac-12.
Vic Fangio is in his fourth season as Chicago’s defensive coordinator after being hired by the Bears on January 20, 2015. The 2018 season will mark his 32nd year in the NFL and his 19th season as an NFL defensive coordinator.
After inheriting a defense that had ranked 30th in total defense in 2013 and 2014, the Bears finished 14th, 15th and 10th in 2015, 2016 and 2017, respectively. The Bears also finished 2017 tied for third in the NFC and tied for seventh in the NFL with 42 sacks. On five separate occasions last season, the Bears defense held opponents to one or fewer offensive touchdowns (at BAL 0; vs. CAR 0; vs. SF 0; at CIN 1; vs. CLE 0).
Chris Tabor begins his first season as the Bears special teams coordinator after being hired on January 12, 2018. It is his second stint with the club, originally holding the title of assistant special teams coach from 2008-2010. He spent the last seven seasons with the Cleveland Browns as their special teams coordinator.
Since joining Cleveland in 2011, the Browns ranked sixth in kickoff return average against (21.8), seventh in the NFL in punt return average (9.9), ninth in total kick return yards (8,974) and 10th in total return yards allowed (7,627).
